ISIT 2009 - CALL FOR PAPERS (apologies for cross-posting) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ISIT 2009 The 1st International Conference on INFORMATION SOCIETY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES October 12-13, 2009, Novo mesto, Slovenia, http://isit2009.fis.unm.si ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The International Conference on Information Society and Information Technologies brings together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the advancement of the information society and information technologies. The main focus of the conference is to explore the latest findings and results on the mutual influence of information society and information technologies in three important dimensions: public administration; eBusiness & eCommerce; and civil society. ISIT 2009 focuses on real world applications. Authors should therefore highlight the benefits of IT for public administration, industry and services or civil society. Ideas arising from the conference will include how to improve public administration, solve business problems with IT, and how e-services and the World Wide Web influence modern society where the phenomena of social networking with innovative service bring important direction. Papers describing advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques, and general survey papers indicating future directions are also encouraged. Papers describing original work are invited in any of the areas listed below. Accepted papers presented at the conference by one of the authors will be published in the Proceedings of ISIT 2009. Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality. Both full research reports and work-in-progress reports are warmly welcomed. Novo mesto is the capital of the Dolenjska region and an important economic centre in Slovenia. The city lies on the green route of ancient peddlers. Dolenjska’s beauty is reflected in the varied countryside with its many hills topped by churches, the imposing Gorjanci mountain range, the expansive Kočevje forests and the brilliant green river Krka. ISIT 2009 will be held in the congress centre in Dolenjske Toplice, around 6km from the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT DATES: May 28, 2009 Conference Paper Abstract Submission Deadline June 25, 2009 Conference Paper Submission Deadline May 28, 2009 Workshop Proposal Submission Deadline June 25, 2009: Workshop Paper Submission Deadline -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ISIT 2009 conference covers both technical as well as non-technical aspects of the Information Society and Information Technology. ISIT 2009 accepts two categories of Conference Paper submissions, i) Technical Papers, and ii) Experience Papers. Technical Papers: should describe innovative research in one of the defined topics. They should describe a novel contribution to the field and should carefully support claims of novelty with citations to the relevant literature. Where a submission builds upon previous work of the author(s), the novelty of the new contribution must be clearly described with respect to the previous work. Papers should also clearly discuss how the results were validated. Experience Papers: should describe a significant experience in one of the defined topics. They should carefully identify and discuss important lessons learned so that other researchers and/or practitioners can benefit from the experience. We are particularly interested in experience papers that report on industrial applications. Submissions under both categories should not exceed 10.000 characters (approx. 6 pages, 1600 characters per page). For guidelines and formatting see “Information for Authors” on the ISIT 2009 website. Papers submitted to ISIT 2009 must not have been previously published and must not be under review for publication elsewhere. Papers must strictly adhere to submission guidelines. Authors are strongly encouraged to explain the relationship between the submission and any other related works from the authors. Student papers at ISIT 2009 are warmly welcomed. The “student paper section” at ISIT 2009 will provide an opportunity for students to a) present papers to an audience of fellow-research students and get peer feedback, b) to participate in sessions on the research process and to discuss research issues with experienced and active researchers and c) to help develop a network of contacts. Papers will be administratively rejected and will not be reviewed if they exceed the 10.000 character limit. All papers which conform to submission guidelines will be peer-reviewed by program committee members. All conference papers must be submitted electronically by June 10, 2009 (abstracts must be submitted by May 28, 2009). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORGANISATION General Chair: Nadja Damij, Faculty of Information Studies, Novo mesto, Slovenia Program Co-Chairs: dr.
